LAS VEGAS – According to Metro, a 69-year-old man in an electric wheelchair was struck and killed at a south valley crossroads Friday night.
Just before 5 p.m., the incident occurred at South Las Vegas Boulevard and East Agate Avenue junction.
According to authorities, the man was riding his motorized wheelchair through the junction in an unmarked inferred crosswalk, which is treated the same as a marked crosswalk under Nevada law.
The motorist of a Hyundai Santa Fe struck the wheelchair as the guy entered the crossing, tossing him from the device, according to authorities.
According to authorities, the man was transferred to University Medical Center’s trauma unit with life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead Saturday.
The death was the 147th traffic-related fatality in the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2022.
The investigation is still ongoing. However, police have stated that driving impairment was not a factor.
