LAS VEGAS – According to officials, a 77-year-old lady was arrested last week after 43 dogs were discovered in an inquiry into hoarding and animal neglect.
Betty Ann Fuchsel of Dolan Springs, Arizona, was detained on January 11, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. Dolan Springs is located around 80 miles southwest of Las Vegas, right off the road to Kingman.
The Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Division received reports of hoarding at two separate properties in the Dolan Springs region, where animals were apparently roaming wild and assaulting livestock.
Fuchsel, had previously gotten multiple citations and had refused to comply or appear in court, according to officials. She was arrested on warrants on January 11, and she is now charged with 43 counts of felony animal cruelty.
The animals were turned over to the Mohave County Animal Shelter.
“Upon entering the two dwellings, the flooring were discovered to be covered in feces, trash, and urine,” according to information provided Monday by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. “Several dogs were discovered chained up inside the apartment and in vehicles on the site, with no access to food or water.”
Authorities stated that the canines were underweight and in varied states of maltreatment. Several of the canines were brought to a veterinarian for immediate medical care.
Authorities stated the residences are in the 15000 block of N. Garnet Dr. and the 16000 block of N. Kathleen Dr.
