ACLU Nevada’s ‘Know Your Rights’ Page: A Guide for Navigating Immigration Enforcement

In response to the Trump administration’s firm stance on illegal immigration, the ACLU of Nevada has unveiled a “Know Your Rights” webpage aimed at informing individuals about their legal protections. Senior Staff Attorney Sadmira Ramic noted that recent immigration measures have led to increased apprehension and uncertainty within the community.

“We have received a lot of questions, specifically related to what they should do in case they do encounter immigration agents or any other agents within the community,” Ramic stated.

The webpage offers guidance on rights in various settings, including workplaces, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, places of worship, and individual interactions. Ramic emphasized that, regardless of immigration status, individuals possess constitutional rights comparable to any other person in the country.

While the ACLU acknowledges that this guide is not a substitute for personalized legal counsel, it aims to help individuals prepare for potential encounters with immigration authorities.
