LAS VEGAS, NV — The Clark County School District (CCSD) has officially released the finalized bell schedule for the 2026-2027 school year, marking a districtwide shift designed to align with adolescent biological needs and optimize a strained transportation system.
The New “Staggered” Timeline
Under the approved plan, school start times will be categorized by grade level to create a more efficient “three-tier” busing rotation:
-
Middle Schools: 7:30 AM – 1:41 PM
-
High Schools: 8:30 AM – 2:41 PM
-
Elementary Schools: 9:15 AM – 3:26 PM
Health and Logistics at the Core
Superintendent Jhone Ebert emphasized that the shift—particularly the later start for high schoolers—is backed by years of pediatric research.
“Later start times for high school students lead to more sleep, reduced anxiety, and greater alertness,” Ebert stated. “This directly translates to improved attendance and graduation rates.”
Logistically, the staggered start times allow the district to utilize its existing bus fleet more effectively, potentially saving millions in capital costs that would otherwise be required to expand the fleet to meet uniform start times.
