CCSD Seeks Public Input on Possible Change to School Start Times

The Clark County School District (CCSD) is asking for community feedback as it considers adjusting school start times by 30 minutes for the upcoming school year.
The district launched a survey on Friday that will remain open until 5 p.m. on October 17. Parents, guardians, students, and CCSD staff are encouraged to participate.
Superintendent Jhone Ebert emphasized the importance of broad community input, noting that changes to start times affect not only students and families but also staff and local businesses.
Currently, most high schools in the district begin at 7 a.m. District officials point to research showing that later start times can benefit adolescents, including better academic performance, reduced stress, and lower rates of depression and anxiety. Officials say later schedules are also linked to improved emotional well-being.
The survey is offered in English, Spanish, Filipino, Vietnamese, Amharic, and Chinese.
