Clark County Discovers 1,600 Uncounted Mail-In Ballots After Election Day

Clark County election officials announced Thursday that 1,608 mail-in ballots were found unprocessed in a vault more than a week after Election Day. The ballots have since been tabulated and added to the election results, a spokesperson confirmed.

“These mail ballots have now been tabulated and counted,” the spokesperson said. “This correction did not change the outcome in any race. The unofficial results have been updated, reviewed by the registrar, and are ready for certification.”

The discovery prompted the county to collaborate with the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office to issue an audit, ensuring the integrity and security of the election process.

One of the closest contests, the Ward 2 North Las Vegas city councilperson election, saw a slight shift in results. Councilwoman Ruth Garcia-Anderson’s lead narrowed from nine votes to eight after the update.

Nevada law mandates that counties certify election results within 10 days of Election Day. On Friday, Clark County commissioners unanimously certified the updated results.

Voters in Clark County can confirm whether their mail-in ballots were counted through the county’s election website or by using BallotTrax. This situation has underscored the importance of secure and transparent election procedures as officials work to maintain voter confidence.
