Clark County Requires Microchips for Pets Starting August 4

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, July 24, 2025 12:05 pm

Starting August 4, a new requirement will go into effect in unincorporated areas of Clark County mandating that all dogs and cats over the age of four months be microchipped. The initiative is designed to improve the process of reuniting lost pets with their owners and to help decrease the number of animals housed in local shelters.

To support the effort, Clark County is working with various animal welfare organizations to offer microchipping services for a reduced fee of five dollars. Officials are urging pet owners to take advantage of these low-cost options and to verify that their contact details linked to existing microchips are up to date.

Further information is available on the official Clark County website.
