LAS VEGAS – A couple was killed after a vehicle struck them on Fremont Street and then fled.
According to police, the pair was crossing the intersection at 4th Street and Fremont shortly after 7:40 p.m. According to authorities, the two were in a crosswalk but were walking against the signal.
They were struck by a red SUV that had the green light but did not stop. At the scene, authorities told FOX5 that the vehicle continued northbound.
The guy died on the scene, while the wife perished in the hospital.
Police were able to immediately track down that resident red SUV and arrest the driver using their network of cameras throughout the city.
Police think that impairment played a role in this crash.
The investigation is still in progress.
From Carson to Ogden, 4th Street will remain closed.
