FAA Investigates After Private Jet Carrying 8 Aborts Takeoff and Skids into Perimeter Fence at Harry Reid Airport

LAS VEGAS, NV — Federal aviation regulators and Clark County airport operations officials have opened a formal investigation after a private corporate jet aborted its takeoff and careened off the paved runway surface, colliding with the airfield perimeter fence at Harry Reid International Airport.
The incident involved a three-engine Dassault Falcon 50 business jet bound for Toronto Pearson International Airport.
According to preliminary briefings from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Clark County Department of Aviation, the aircraft was accelerating down Runway 1L when the flight crew executed a high-speed aborted takeoff.
Unable to stop within the designated paved overrun, the jet skidded through the runway safety area and struck the chain-link security perimeter fence.
Eight individuals on board—including flight crew and passengers, among them entertainer Donnie Wahlberg following the conclusion of New Kids on the Block’s residency at Dolby Live—evacuated the damaged aircraft without reported injuries.

High-Speed Abort and Fence Impact on Runway 1L
Airport emergency rescue units with the Clark County Fire Department’s Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) station were dispatched immediately as the corporate jet breached the perimeter barrier.
First responders stabilized the aircraft, verified zero active fuel leaks or post-impact fire, and assisted the occupants off the airfield.
Wahlberg confirmed he was on board the flight in public remarks following the scare, praising the flight crew’s handling of the aborted takeoff roll and noting that all passengers exited safely without harm.
Airport authorities shut down both parallel runways—Runways 1L and 1R—to conduct ground inspections, structural integrity assessments of the barrier, and sweeps for foreign object debris (FOD).
The sudden reduction in operational runway capacity triggered an FAA-mandated ground stop for inbound traffic.
Flight tracking telemetry recorded cascading departure and arrival delays exceeding one to two hours, with more than 350 commercial flights impacted across the country during peak post-weekend passenger departures.
Federal Telemetry and Mechanical Review
FAA inspectors arrived on site to secure the aircraft’s maintenance records, analyze cockpit voice and data logs, and evaluate tire braking friction along the runway surface.

Investigators are evaluating what mechanical alarm, engine indication, or airfield anomaly prompted the flight crew to abort takeoff at high velocity.
The damaged aircraft was eventually towed from the safety zone to a private aviation hangar on the west side of the airfield for non-destructive testing.
Normal runway configurations resumed following clean-up operations.
The FAA’s preliminary factual incident report is anticipated later this week.
