NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV — Authorities have successfully tracked down and arrested a 27-year-old suspect accused in the fatal shooting of a local man earlier this year, leveraging an Instagram footprint and advanced facial recognition software to break open a stalling homicide case.
The Centennial Parkway Slaying
Court records and investigative affidavits unsealed Thursday morning, May 28, 2026, detail the processing of Kenneth Lee Rapier, 27. Rapier stands charged with Open Murder with a Deadly Weapon, Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, and Robbery with Use of a Deadly Weapon.
The felony charges stem from the early morning hours of February 1, 2026, when North Las Vegas Police Department (NLVPD) patrol units swarmed the 100 block of East Centennial Parkway, near Losee Road. Arriving officers discovered 36-year-old Genaro Patterson Jr. suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Initial neighborhood interviews yielded little immediate data, though one area witness reported hearing a brief, aggressive verbal argument on the street layout immediately preceding the muzzle flashes.
The Digital Telemetry Trial
The investigative breakthrough materialized through structural forensic reviews of digital assets and commercial security networks. Detectives isolated area video surveillance showing a rented high-end Corvette and the victim’s vehicle stationed symmetrically at the crime scene moments prior to the execution.
A separate witness statement indicated the gunman operated under the street moniker “43.” NLVPD detectives input target video captures and localized social media profiles into facial recognition database matrices, yielding a deterministic match to Rapier. Rapier is currently booked into the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) without bail pending his initial formal arraignment at the Regional Justice Center.
