Father of Las Vegas Teen Killed in Beating Calls for End to Youth Violence

LAS VEGAS – A 17-year-old boy, who was severely beaten by a group of 15 people near Rancho High School in Las Vegas has died days after the attack.
His father, Jonathan Lewis, confirmed the news and described the incident as a savage crime. The victim, also named Jonathan Lewis, had plans to move to Austin, Texas, with his father.
The elder Lewis expressed his disgust and disappointment at the fight that killed his child and hoped it would start a conversation on youth violence in the Las Vegas Valley.
The police are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made yet.
Lewis said he kept his son on life support for several days, trying to save him, but his injuries were too severe. He also mentioned that investigators informed the family that several students involved in the fight could be charged with murder.
The victim’s father wished to donate his organs to save others.
