FBI Data Shows Nevada Has the Worst Cybercrime Problem
According to FBI data, Nevada has the most cybercrime.
Nevada ranked first, followed by Alaska, Iowa, Florida, and Delaware. Identity theft was Nevadans’ greatest cybercrime, according to the research.
Thirdpartytrust.com compared cybercrimes per capita across states. Nevada had 19,766 cybercrime victims in 2021 and ranked highest because of its small population. Nationally, states average 11,752 victims.
Cybercriminals stole $127.8 million from Nevadans or $6,500 per victim. North Dakota had the highest per-victim loss at $32,016. California ($21,464), New York ($21,751), Connecticut ($20,616), and Vermont ($18,838) followed.
The LVMPD has 20 detectives and five citizen investigators.
IC3 ranks Nevada sixth in cybercrime victims (17,706) without considering the population. In 2021, California will have 67,095 victims.
