Feds Indict Las Vegas Woman After Postal Inspectors, Henderson SWAT Intercept Kilo of Fentanyl in the Mail

LAS VEGAS, NV — A joint federal and local law enforcement operation has resulted in federal drug trafficking and weapons charges against a Las Vegas woman accused of receiving a bulk shipment of fentanyl through the postal system, authorities announced Friday.

The criminal complaint—unsealed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada on Friday, September 25, 2026—charges Olga Josefina Mexia with conspiracy to distribute a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of two firearms in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Controlled Delivery and SWAT Breach

According to federal court affidavits, the interdiction began when postal inspectors with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service flagged a suspicious parcel moving through regional mail streams destined for a residential address tied to Mexia in the Las Vegas Valley.

Inspectors confirmed the parcel contained approximately one kilogram of pure fentanyl powder—a quantity capable of delivering hundreds of thousands of lethal doses.

On Monday, September 21, postal inspectors coordinated a controlled delivery of the package to Mexia’s residence.

Moments after the parcel was accepted, tactical breaching teams from the Henderson Police Department SWAT moved in, executing an emergency federal search warrant.

During the search, federal agents and Henderson officers discovered significant evidence of a commercial packaging operation, recovering stacks of bulk currency, bulk fentanyl powder alongside individually bagged retail doses, and two firearms.

Task Force Interdiction and Court Proceedings

Mexia was taken into custody and made her initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Brenda Weksler at the Lloyd D. George Federal Courthouse in downtown Las Vegas.

The investigation was coordinated under the Las Vegas Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), an inter-agency partnership combining federal agents with local municipal police to target cartel supply networks.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Joshua Brister is prosecuting the case, with a preliminary hearing set for October 7, 2026, before Judge Weksler.

If convicted, Mexia faces mandatory minimum prison time and tens of thousands in statutory fines under federal drug-trafficking and firearms statutes.
