LAS VEGAS — A gas line break near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) caused traffic restrictions on Maryland Parkway Monday afternoon as utility crews and fire officials responded to the scene. Clark County Fire Department and Southwest Gas crews worked to secure the area, with eastbound lanes slowed or blocked temporarily while repairs and safety checks were underway.
Authorities urged drivers to use alternate routes and avoid the area until crews confirmed the gas infrastructure was stabilized. No injuries were reported, and officials said there was no ongoing danger to students, faculty, or residents nearby. School and transit services adjusted routes in the area to minimize disruption. Public safety officials reminded residents to report any unusual gas odors immediately and to stay clear of emergency response zones.
