Henderson Man Arrested After Dog Found in Trash Bag — Felony Charge Filed

A Henderson man has been arrested after a dog was found discarded inside a trash bag and later died, highlighting concerns over personal responsibility and legal accountability. The 60-year-old suspect, Randy Lee Katz, was taken into custody by the Henderson Police Department on one felony count of willful or malicious torture of a companion animal.
Officials say the dog, named “Bailey,” exhibited fresh puncture wounds, abdominal bruising and signs of severe dehydration. Veterinarians attempted life-saving measures after the dog was found inside a plastic garbage bag in the Inspirada neighborhood. The suspect told investigators that he believed a coyote had attacked the animal and that he placed the dog in a trash bag to prevent his girlfriend from discovering the injuries.
Conservatives emphasize that acts of animal cruelty such as this should meet with firm enforcement under existing law—ignoring them undermines the rule of law and traditional values of protection and accountability. While some on the left frame animal cruelty as a sign of systemic societal failure, the more fundamental issue remains individual conduct and choices.
Katz is scheduled to appear in court for a status check in December. The case is under active investigation, and authorities are asking the public to report any additional information.
