Former Olympic figure skater Surya Bonaly says her Las Vegas home was burglarized while she was caring for her mother, who is battling multiple cancers. The heist, which spanned four consecutive days, resulted in the theft of her lifelong collection of medals from European and world championships.
Bonaly, now 51, said surveillance footage captured several individuals entering the home near Durango and Oakey, disabling security cameras and cutting WiFi before making off with medals she described as priceless symbols of her athletic achievements.
At the time of the burglary, Bonaly was in Minnesota caring for her mother, and she is also undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She filed a report with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (Summerlin Area Command) and urged anyone in pawn shops or local markets to report any foreign gold or silver medals that match her description.
