In a solemn announcement, the North Las Vegas Police Department has identified the officer who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Officer Jason Roscow, 46, was tragically shot and killed during a confrontation with an armed suspect near Lone Mountain and Camino Al Norte on Tuesday afternoon.
Officer Roscow, a dedicated public servant since 2007, served across multiple divisions, including Traffic and Patrol Operations. His unwavering commitment to duty earned him the prestigious Exemplary Service Award—a testament to his bravery, professionalism, and dedication to safeguarding the community.
“His dedication to duty and resilience in challenging situations earned him the respect of his colleagues and the community he served. Officer Roscow was more than a colleague; he was a friend, a mentor, and a valued member of our law enforcement family,” stated North Las Vegas Police officials.
Law enforcement agencies across Las Vegas honored Officer Roscow with a formal procession from the Clark County Coroner’s Office to Palm Downtown Mortuary and Cemetery, marking the city’s deep respect and gratitude for his service.
A community vigil is scheduled for February 6 at 5:30 p.m. at Liberty Park, offering the public an opportunity to pay their respects and support Roscow’s family. Officer Roscow leaves behind his two young sons, 9-year-old Graysen and 4-year-old Andrew, who will forever carry his legacy.
Funeral services will be held at Central Church in the coming days, after which Officer Roscow will be laid to rest in his hometown of Prairie du Rocher, Illinois.
For those wishing to honor his memory and support his family, donations can be made to the Injured Police Officer’s Fund at Lexicon Bank, Account #1000010630.
Officer Roscow’s life was defined by service, courage, and a deep sense of duty—principles that should remind us all of the daily sacrifices made by the men and women who wear the badge.
