LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – On the day that would have been Betty White’s 100th birthday, a crowd of admirers and supporters came to pay tribute to the late actress. Animal advocacy groups are now hoping for continued support for a subject dear to her.
On January 17, 2023, the #BettyWhiteChallenge will challenge participants to support animal welfare, something White was well known for doing regularly.
Nonprofit groups like Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions continue to assist animals in need, and the funding from occasions like this enables them to do so.
Particularly, two cats will require a lot of care and assistance while they recover from two distinct medical issues.
Queso arrived at Homeward Bound after his family had to make the tough decision to give him up because of unexpected life changes and mounting medical needs. It was a bit of a blessing in disguise because he needed emergency veterinary care! He had a urinary blockage (which can be life-threatening if not treated quickly) and needed immediate surgery. But while the blockage was fixed, his recovery has been problematic, and he remains hospitalized. Queso is a bit of a troublemaker and continues to aggravate his catheter, slowing his recovery. His medical bills are increasing every day and are expected to reach at least $2,000!
Simon Stripes was found by a good Samaritan with a bad injury to his leg. He was sweet and friendly, even when seriously injured, and she knew calling Homeward Bound would get him the help he needed. While his leg wasn’t able to be saved, his life was. Now Simon is recovering well and adjusting to life on three legs. His charming personality will have him finding his forever home in no time, but it cost over $1,500 to provide the care he needed!
Online and postal donations are both welcome and should be sent to 2675 East Flamingo Road, Suite 3, Las Vegas, Nevada 89121.
Supporters are also urged to choose Homeward Bound as their preferred charity at Smith’s Food and Drug Stores as well as on Amazon Smile.

The funny thing about a cat is how nobody gets to be his boss. He’s an independent contractor. One example is how when a stray cat decides to live in your yard, you’re helpless to stop him. He’ll just live in your yard when you’re inside. Or when you got to work. Or when you go to sleep When you’re in the front yard the new cat will just live in the back. Or vice-versa. And when you go on vacation the new cat becomes the property manager. And if you’re really lucky, the new cat will platform his brothers. Which is why cat stores in this world have been rare. Because for most us, a new cat is free!
