Homicide Detectives Seek Answers After Infant Found Deceased Near Nellis Blvd

By TheNevadaGlobeStaff, March 30, 2026 10:30 am

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has launched an investigation into the heartbreaking death of an infant in the East Las Vegas Valley early Friday morning. Officers and medical personnel were dispatched to a residence in the 5700 block of White Cap Street, near East Charleston Boulevard and North Sloan Lane, just after 6:40 a.m. following a medical call for an unresponsive child.

The infant was rushed to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced deceased. While the department’s Abuse and Neglect Detail typically reviews such cases, Homicide detectives remained at the scene throughout the morning to canvass the neighborhood for witnesses and evidence. No details regarding the infant’s age or the specific cause of death have been released, pending a formal autopsy by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Officials are urging anyone with information to contact Metro’s Homicide Section.
