Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker reportedly won $1.4 million playing blackjack during a visit to Las Vegas earlier this year, according to new financial disclosures.
The disclosure, filed with the Illinois Secretary of State, shows the Democratic governor listed the winnings as gambling income from “Caesars Entertainment.” Pritzker’s report did not specify the date or duration of his visit, though the filing is required under state ethics laws to list all income sources over $5,000.
A spokesperson for the governor’s office confirmed the accuracy of the filing but declined to provide additional details about the trip. Pritzker, who has frequently visited Nevada in connection with political events and fundraisers, is known for his significant personal wealth and philanthropic contributions.
Caesars Entertainment did not comment on the disclosure. While gambling winnings are taxable income, Pritzker’s office said he remains in compliance with all reporting requirements.
