LAS VEGAS – A Las Vegas man is now facing charges of reckless driving after allegedly reaching speeds of 100-110 mph on the road, citing his girlfriend’s illness as the reason for his erratic behavior. The arrest report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detailed the incident.

On Saturday, May 27, officers from the Racing Apprehension and Intervention Detail (RAID) team were traveling on southbound U.S. 95 near Eastern Avenue in an unmarked LVMPD vehicle when they observed a black BMW sedan rapidly accelerating and making unsafe lane changes.

According to the report, the BMW continued to increase its speed, reaching 100-110 mph as it approached southbound U.S. 95 and Charleston Boulevard. The RAID officers witnessed the BMW maneuvering through heavy traffic congestion at high speeds, prompting them to activate their lights and sirens to signal the BMW to pull over.

The report further stated that the BMW persisted in making unsafe lane changes, impacting multiple lanes of traffic. At that time, the vehicle was estimated to be traveling at speeds around 95-105 mph.

After exiting southbound U.S. 95 at Exit 70, the BMW came to a stop approximately 350 feet after making a right turn onto Boulder Highway.

During the investigation, the driver, identified as Cory Samarini, explained to the police that his girlfriend, who was a passenger in his car, was feeling sick. Samarini claimed that he didn’t want her to vomit inside the vehicle and was driving recklessly in an attempt to promptly seek medical attention for her.
