LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas police have taken a suspect into custody in connection with a shooting incident that transpired in the northeast valley, leaving one individual in critical condition, according to official records.
Gonzalo Martinez, a 43-year-old resident, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, as well as owning and possessing a firearm as a prohibited person, and battery with the use of a deadly weapon resulting in substantial bodily harm.
On Saturday evening, law enforcement officers were dispatched to the vicinity of Cobb Lane, situated near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Owens Avenue, in response to a reported shooting. The victim, believed to be in his thirties, sustained a gunshot wound to the right arm and was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Police sources indicated that the altercation leading up to the shooting was triggered by an argument between the victim and the suspect. Gonzalo Martinez fled the scene before the arrival of the police.
However, on Sunday, officers were able to apprehend Martinez and subsequently took him into custody. He was later booked into Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) and is expected to appear in court at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
