Las Vegas Reporter’s Accused Killer Requests to Represent Himself at Trial

LAS VEGAS – According to court documents, the attorneys for Robert Telles, who is charged with murder for the alleged shooting of a Las Vegas journalist, have sought to withdraw as counsel because Telles wanted to represent himself at trial.
On February 3, attorneys Damian Sheets and Baylie Hellman asked to withdraw from the case, citing a “breakdown in communication between counsel and defendant.” Telles was a former public administrator for Clark County.
Telles has indicated he wants to represent himself in his own right, or pro se, and has requested their withdrawal as counsel, according to the two attorneys.
There is also a “material difference” that prevents counsel from adequately representing Telles.
Telles’ trial was just postponed to November 6. His upcoming court date is May 3.
