Las Vegas police are investigating after a man was found dead inside a west valley home following a barricade situation Thursday morning.
The incident began around 6:20 a.m. at a residence on the 1600 block of Royal Palm Drive, near Lake Mead Boulevard and Tenaya Way, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
Authorities said the man shot himself, remained armed, and refused to comply with commands to leave the house. Other individuals inside were able to exit safely.
Police classified the event as a barricade situation, prompting SWAT officers and crisis negotiators to respond. Just before 10 a.m., LVMPD confirmed the man was found deceased inside the home.
The investigation remains ongoing, and no additional details have been released at this time.
