LAS VEGAS – In a distressing incident, a man and his two young children were discovered unresponsive and drifting in and out of consciousness inside an SUV in a desert area of Henderson as temperatures soared to 105 degrees on Monday. According to the Henderson Police Department, evidence in the vehicle suggested that Brian Laugeson, 59, had possibly been using drugs in his Ford Flex while the two children, aged 3 and 4, were found “naked and visibly suffering from heat-related illness.”

Upon discovery, the three were immediately rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Laugeson was taken to Henderson Hospital, while the children were admitted to St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, as per the arrest report.

The police response was triggered when a friend of Laugeson’s reported to the police that he and the children had not been seen or heard from since 9 a.m. on Sunday. According to the arrest report, Laugeson and his separated wife had agreed that he would have custody of the children for the weekend at his apartment.

The trio had left Laugeson’s apartment to attend an LDS church in Henderson, dressed in church attire. However, they never arrived at the church as planned.

Upon receiving no communication from Laugeson on Monday morning, the children’s mother contacted the Henderson police, leading them to track the location of Laugeson’s cellphone. The authorities found the SUV at Cadiz Avenue and Parawan Street in Henderson, situated near a desert area, at around 12:10 p.m.

Inside the vehicle, Laugeson and the children were found in an alarming state, going in and out of consciousness. The children were completely naked in the backseat, and the windows were only partially cracked, not rolled down entirely. Disturbingly, the backseat contained human feces and random articles of children’s clothing.

Brian Laugeson now faces two counts of child abuse or neglect with substantial bodily harm as the investigation into this heartbreaking incident continues.
