Man Charged With Open Murder in Fatal Domestic Altercation Near West Sahara

LAS VEGAS, NV — A 38-year-old man remains held at the Clark County Detention Center today after a domestic dispute escalated into a fatal physical encounter at a central Las Vegas residence early Tuesday morning.

The 911 Call and Discovery

At approximately 3:04 AM on Tuesday, April 28, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) dispatch received a call for medical assistance regarding a female at a home in the 4300 block of Esmeralda Avenue, located in a neighborhood near West Sahara Avenue and South Valley View Boulevard.

Upon arrival, medical personnel located a woman inside the residence and pronounced her deceased at the scene. After an initial observation of the victim’s injuries, first responders immediately requested police assistance.

The Investigation and Arrest

Homicide detectives took the victim’s husband, Roelmer Sanchez-Garrido, into custody at the scene. According to investigators:

  • The Altercation: Detectives determined the couple had been involved in an argument that turned into a physical struggle, ultimately leading to the woman’s death.

  • The Context: Metro Lt. Robert Price noted that the killing occurred as the victim was reportedly planning to leave Sanchez-Garrido and take the couple’s children.

  • Current Status: Sanchez-Garrido is facing a charge of open murder.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the victim’s identity and the official cause and manner of death later this week.
