Gunfire in Commercial Plaza Parking Lot
Emergency dispatchers first received multiple reports of gunfire echoing across the 300 block of South Decatur Boulevard, a busy commercial stretch anchored by retail storefronts and dining plazas just south of US-95.
As responding Metro patrol units arrived along Decatur to secure the scene, a private passenger vehicle pulled up to the emergency bay of a nearby valley hospital.
The driver dropped off the male passenger, who was suffering from traumatic bullet wounds.
Trauma center medical staff initiated emergency life-saving procedures, but the victim succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
Homicide detectives and crime scene analysts responding to the hospital coordinated with patrol officers on Decatur, confirming that the shooting took place inside the vehicle while parked in the commercial business lot.
Investigators cordoned off portions of the asphalt plaza with yellow barrier tape, retrieving spent shell casings and impounding the transport vehicle for forensic processing.
Detectives Canvas Surveillance and Seek Public Tips
Metro confirmed that no arrests have been made and no suspect descriptions have been formally released as detectives work to establish a timeline of the encounter.
