LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – The guy suspected of eluding police by driving on curbs and walkways near and on the Las Vegas Strip on Wednesday, nearly colliding with visitors and policemen, started a fire by revving his tires in a busy crossroads, authorities said.
Wilson Reyes, 24, was set to appear before a judge on Thursday, but according to court authorities, he was “disruptive” and “uncooperative” with cops. His hearing has been delayed till December 6.
Around 3:30 p.m., Reyes followed a taxicab. Documents stated that it was near the High Roller behind the Linq hotel. Although an officer told Reyes to halt, he continued to pursue the cab. It was unclear why Reyes was tailing the car.
To evade arrest, Reyes drove passed arriving cops and onto curbs, according to authorities. According to authorities, Reyes then drove onto Las Vegas Boulevard, closely following another car, and went back to the Linq property.
Officers attempted to stop Reyes at the Bally’s hotel valet, but Reyes was able to evade arrest by driving over a curb. Reyes almost struck a person with a stroller and a police officer when driving out of the valet, according to cops.
Officers pursued Reyes along Flamingo Road into Koval Lane, where he refused to stop, according to authorities. Officers then encircled his vehicle and used the PIT technique to get Reyes to stop.
According to investigators, Reyes then began gassing his vehicle, causing the tires to spin and smoke. The tires ultimately blew out.
The automobile caught fire after approximately 30 minutes, and authorities forcibly took Reyes from the flaming vehicle, according to police. According to authorities, one LVMPD unit also caught fire.
Officers declined to talk with Reyes. According to authorities, he was recognized by family members.
Reyes faces allegations of assault with a dangerous weapon on a police officer. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
