Hours of Gridlock Paralyze Southeast Valley
The sheer force of the collision scattered a massive debris field across multiple lanes, knocking down infrastructure and requiring an extensive hazardous materials cleanup.
Traffic detectives locked down all southbound lanes of Boulder Highway for several hours to process physical evidence and document the mechanical telemetry of the vehicles involved. Commuters were forced to entirely bypass the intersection and divert onto alternative southeast corridors, including Desert Inn Road and Interstate 515, creating cascading gridlock throughout the Friday afternoon rush hour.
The identity of the deceased motorist is currently being processed by the Clark County Coroner’s Office pending formal notification of next of kin. The underlying cause of the initial impact remains under active investigation by Metro’s fatal detail.
