LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – In southern Nevada, a local hospital is attempting to expand the availability of emergency treatment for kids.
On Thursday, Siena Hospital held a groundbreaking ceremony to officially begin off the $2.4 million expansion project.
Two former pediatric patients joined the party to help smash down the barricade.
The proposal seeks to build nine pediatric emergency beds, a pediatric ER entrance distinct from the adult ER entrance, separate pediatric waiting spaces, and dedicated pediatric ER parking.
The initiative comes just in time for the winter season, when health authorities expect an increase in RSV cases.
Last year, the Sienna Pediatric Emergency Department treated over 12,000 children and is poised to handle much more.
The expansion is planned to be finished next year.
