Police Respond to Gunfire Near Las Vegas Academy, Suspect in Custody

Las Vegas, NV – A shooting near Las Vegas Academy caused panic among arriving students on Thursday.
Las Vegas Metropolitan police received the distressing call about gunfire at 6:51 a.m., just moments before the commencement of the school day. Responding officers discovered a man in the 400 block of South 10th Street, near Clark Avenue, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Tragically, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, and one person is now in custody.
In response to the incident, Las Vegas Academy was placed on a soft lockdown, a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students and staff. The lockdown was lifted around 9 a.m., but an ongoing investigation in the vicinity continues.
