LAS VEGAS, NV — A fast-moving fire inside the Terminal 1 parking structure at Harry Reid International Airport forced a temporary evacuation and closure of the garage on Wednesday afternoon. Emergency crews contained the blaze to an upper level, though six vehicles sustained extensive damage.

Emergency Dispatch and Evacuation

The Clark County Fire Department responded to the airport property just before 3:10 PM following reports of multiple vehicles actively on fire within the main parking infrastructure.

Upon arriving on the scene, first responders discovered heavily smoking vehicle engine compartments engulfed in flames on one of the garage’s upper floors. Due to the tight structural layout and heavy smoke accumulation, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department immediately stepped in to assist fire crews with a swift, orderly evacuation of the entire Terminal 1 parking garage.

Injuries and Reopening Logistics

Firefighters utilized rapid direct suppression tactics to contain the flames and successfully prevented the blaze from spreading deeper into adjacent parking rows. Two individuals on-scene were evaluated and treated by medical personnel for minor smoke inhalation. No other civilian or emergency personnel injuries were reported.

Airport administrative staff confirmed that all entryways and transit ramps into the Terminal 1 garage were safely cleared and reopened to travelers just after 5:10 PM once the smoke was completely ventilated. The exact mechanical or electrical cause of the initial vehicle ignition remains under active investigation by the Clark County Fire Department’s specialized investigators.
