The Country Predicted to Experience Record Cold but Las Vegas Will See Above-Average Temperatures on Christmas

LAS VEGAS, Nev. (702 Times, NV Globe) – Take advantage of the unusually warm weather right now… Our next weather maker will arrive next week!

On Thursday, generally bright skies will give way to partly overcast skies this afternoon as a light disturbance passes. In Las Vegas, high temperatures will be around 58 degrees, like they were yesterday.

Winds from the northwest will gust to 10 mph.

This evening’s sky will be partly overcast, with valley lows around 42 degrees.

Temperatures in Southern Nevada will steadily rise during the holiday weekend. On Christmas Day, highs are anticipated to reach the mid-60s, which is roughly 10 degrees above usual (the normal high temperature this time of the year is 56 degrees).

The Plains and Northeast will see record-breaking temperatures and life-threatening wind chills. Wind chills might reach -40 degrees in some regions today, and -50 to -70 degrees by the end of the week. Winds will be sustained at 20-30 mph, with gusts reaching 60 mph.

Light to moderate snow is also expected in the Upper Midwest and will move towards the Northeast. In the Great Lakes area, heavy lake effect snow is probable, with 1-2 feet of snow possible.

The Pacific Northwest is also seeing busy weather as the holidays approach. This evening, snow will begin to fall, followed by sleet and freezing rain. Strong winds are also expected.

Our next weather maker will be aimed towards Southern Nevada next week. A huge Pacific storm will come towards the West Coast on Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing mountain rain/snow possibilities and a 20% chance of valley rain on Wednesday.
