A shooting on southbound Interstate 15 near East Lake Mead Boulevard in north Las Vegas early Friday morning left a passenger injured and forced the closure of multiple travel lanes, according to Nevada State Police. Trooper Shawn Haggstrom told News 3 Las Vegas that the incident occurred around 2:35 a.m. while a vehicle was traveling southbound. One person inside sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital in stable condition.
Nevada State Police and the Nevada Division of Investigation are managing the probe, and no time estimate for reopening the lanes has been provided. While the far right lanes remain open, backup extended toward Craig Road, significantly delaying the morning commute. Drivers have been advised to use alternate routes such as 5th Street, Losee Road, or Civic Center Drive to bypass the area.
