Las Vegas, NV – The Tropicana Las Vegas has officially secured a permit to implode its iconic two hotel towers. The Clark County Building Department issued the commercial demolition implosion permit on Monday, September 23rd.
Controlled Demolition Inc. has been contracted to carry out the implosion, which is valued at $1.2 million. The demolition will involve the controlled collapse of the two 22-story towers.
Bally’s Corp., which operated the Tropicana casino-resort until its closure in April, has plans to host a celebratory event before the implosion. Scheduled for 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9th, the event will feature a drone and fireworks display.
The demolition of the Tropicana towers will pave the way for the construction of a new baseball stadium to accommodate the Oakland Athletics. Team officials anticipate starting construction early next year and completing the stadium by the 2028 season.
