UNLV Fires Head Basketball Coach Kevin Kruger Amid Underwhelming Season—What’s Next?

UNLV has officially parted ways with men’s basketball head coach Kevin Kruger following another lackluster season. UNLV Athletic Director Erick Harper made the announcement on Saturday, emphasizing the program’s commitment to championship-level performance.

“Our expectation is to contend for and win championships,” Harper stated. “After evaluating the program as a whole, I believe a change is necessary to achieve these goals.” While expressing appreciation for Kruger’s contributions, the university made it clear that mediocrity would not be tolerated.

Kruger, who spent four seasons leading the Rebels, struggled to revive the dominance the program once enjoyed. Now, the search begins for a new head coach who can restore UNLV to its former glory.
