Vice President Kamala Harris is set to make her fourth visit to Las Vegas this year, arriving on Monday to discuss the impact of the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. The legislation, signed into law in 2022, aims to enhance mental health services and advance gun control measures.
The Biden administration revealed new regulations from the Department of Justice on Tuesday, aligning with provisions outlined in the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act. These regulations will broaden background checks for firearm purchases, mandating gun dealers to conduct thorough background checks for transactions occurring outside traditional gun stores, including at gun shows and flea markets.
Harris’s upcoming visit underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing critical issues surrounding public safety and mental health. Her previous visits to Nevada in 2024 highlight the significance of the state in national discussions and policy initiatives.
During her last trip to Las Vegas in March, Harris engaged with supporters in North Las Vegas and extended congratulations to the Culinary Workers Union Local 226 on their recent contract negotiations.
Further details about Vice President Harris’s agenda for Monday’s visit are expected to be announced soon. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
