Warner Bros. Eyes $8.5 Billion Film Studio in Nevada, Contingent on Tax Credit

Warner Bros. Discovery has unveiled its ambitious plan to establish an $8.5 billion film studio in Nevada, pending the approval of a film studio tax credit.

The proposed studio, an extension of their collaboration with UNLV and Birtcher Development, would occupy the 34-acre Nevada Studios campus, to be renamed “Warner Bros. Studios Nevada”.

The project’s realization depends on the passage of a legislative proposal introduced by State Senator Roberta Lange. This proposal aims to expand the state’s film tax credit program and establish film and TV workforce development programs at UNLV.

Senator Lange expressed optimism that the project would boost Nevada’s economy and workforce, particularly in Southern Nevada. Warner Bros. Discovery also voiced their enthusiasm, viewing it as a win-win situation for both the state and the company.

UNLV President Keith Whitfield echoed this sentiment, highlighting the opportunities the project presents for training the next generation of filmmakers and storytellers. The project’s fate now rests on the Nevada State Legislature’s decision when it convenes in February 2025.
