Wave of Morning Crashes Leaves Two Motorcyclists Dead Across Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s Collision Investigation Section processed two separate fatal traffic accidents within minutes of each other, marking a tragic surge in local roadway fatalities.

The fatal collisions bring the department’s annual traffic death toll to 64.

Fatal Collision #63: East Owens Avenue

According to press releases published by Metro’s Traffic Bureau, the first fatal crash occurred at the intersection of East Owens Avenue and North 23rd Street.

Crash reconstruction data revealed that a stolen 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Owens Avenue when a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox turned left onto 23rd Street directly into the motorcycle’s path of travel. The impact ejected the 48-year-old male motorcyclist.

Medical personnel rushed the rider to University Medical Center (UMC) Trauma, where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Chevrolet cooperated with police and showed no signs of impairment.

Fatal Collision #64: East Serene Avenue

Barely ten minutes after logging the investigation files for the Owens crash, Metro emergency units were dispatched to a second fatal vehicle-versus-motorcycle collision.

Arriving patrol officers locked down the intersection at East Serene Avenue and Spencer Street. First responders conducted emergency life-saving measures on the scene, but the motorcyclist succumbed to catastrophic physical trauma.

Traffic detectives closed both major intersections for several hours to map skid patterns and process crash physics. Metro continues to urge drivers to double-check blind spots and yield appropriate right-of-way to two-wheeled vehicles across the valley.
