California Woman Busted with Stolen Truck, Drug Stash in Storey County

VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. – A 30-year-old Californian woman faces a laundry list of charges after Storey County deputies caught her driving a stolen U-Haul packed with drugs and stolen goods on Wednesday.
Kailey Odell, of California, was pulled over on Six Mile Canyon Road in a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck bearing the partially removed graphics of a stolen U-Haul. Deputies determined the truck had been stolen from Sacramento.
A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a treasure trove of contraband, including:
- Narcotic pills without a prescription
- Methamphetamine
- Heroin
- Drug paraphernalia
- A wallet containing stolen ID information
Odell was promptly arrested and booked into the Storey County Detention Facility on a litany of charges, including:
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Embezzlement of a vehicle valued between $25,000 and $100,000
- Tampering with a vehicle causing damage between $250 and $5,000
- Possession of stolen property
- Possession of a controlled substance (14-25 grams)
- Possession of a controlled substance (less than 14 grams)
- Use or possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription
Bond for Odell has been set at $46,995.00. It remains unclear how Odell obtained the stolen U-Haul and what her intended next steps were. Authorities are still investigating the matter and further details may emerge in the coming days.
