Car Crash in State Route 225 Near Elko, Driver Died

According to police, an Elko man died in a late-night fatal crash near Elko on August 10.
Troopers from the Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division (NSP,HP) responded to a report of a crash on State Route 225 (SR-225), ten miles north of Elko, at approximately 11:50 p.m.
According to NSP,HP, the initial investigation revealed that a yellow Subaru Impreza sedan was speeding south on SR-225 in wet conditions.
The driver lost control and drove off the left side of the road, crossing the northbound lane. After hitting an embankment and being redirected to the right before returning to the road, the vehicle caught fire.
According to NSP,HP, the driver was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, which ejected him from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital but died as a result of his injuries.
This crash is being investigated by the NHP Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T). It is suspected that speed and impairment are factors.
