One Wounded in Daytime Downtown Las Vegas Shooting Near Fremont Street; Shooter at Large

LAS VEGAS, NV — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) has launched an active manhunt following a shooting shortly after noon on Friday in downtown Las Vegas that left one person hospitalized.

The gunfire erupted in the 900 block of Fremont Street, located just east of the primary Fremont Street Experience tourist corridor. Responding patrol officers and emergency medical personnel located a wounded victim, who was rushed to a local medical center for treatment. Police confirmed the injuries were not life-threatening.

Perimeter Established East of Fremont Corridor

Following the gunfire, Metro patrol units, canine teams, and detectives swarmed the commercial and residential blocks surrounding Fremont Street, establishing a multi-block perimeter to preserve physical evidence and canvas area businesses for security camera footage.

Because the shooter fled on foot before officers arrived, LVMPD issued a public advisory urging pedestrians and motorists to steer clear of the 900 block of Fremont Street while tactical and patrol officers conduct ongoing search sweeps.

Investigation Underway

Detectives with the Downtown Area Command investigative section are interviewing witnesses and processing ballistic evidence recovered along the sidewalk. No description of the suspect was immediately released as investigators work to determine the motive and events leading up to the gunfire.
