RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – A safety project by Caltrans on U.S. 395 in Mono County is now complete.
The paved shoulders of the roadway were expanded to 10 feet in an effort to increase visibility around bends. Along with other improvements, the crews built retaining walls, leveled soil slopes near to the road, and renovated or constructed guardrails.
By addressing the shoulder and median width, curve radius, stopping sight distance, and embankment slopes to match more recent state regulations and specifications, engineers anticipate that these modifications will further increase road safety.
This project received a $21.4 million budget, of which $13 million came from the federal government.
The commencement of improvements was April 2021.
