Due To Winter-Related Conditions, All Carson City Schools Will Be On A 2-Hour Delay

NEVADA – Because of the winter weather, all schools in the Carson City School District will be closed for two hours on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Buses will also be delayed by two hours. Thus arrival times will be two hours later than usual. There will be no Pre-School classes or school breakfast.
Employees must arrive at work at least 15 minutes earlier, but no more than 30 minutes before, the start of student instruction and as stipulated in their normal assignment to provide time to establish safe parking lots and pathways. They should use caution and allow for twice the regular journey time, depending on the driving conditions.
The school day will conclude at the usual hour. Please have students dress appropriately for the cold and wet weather. For updates, please check local media and the district’s website at carsoncityschools.com.
In other news, Western Nevada College authorities have chosen to postpone opening all three campuses and the Child Development Center on Tuesday, Jan. 17, due to inclement weather.
The Carson City, Minden, and Fallon campuses will open at 10 a.m. The CDC will also open its doors at 10 a.m. The college’s online winter semester classes will continue as planned.
The University of Nevada, Reno’s non-essential campus operations have also been postponed until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Wintermester sessions will resume as scheduled at 10 a.m. The Redfield campus, Building A at 18600 Wedge Pkwy., and the University of Nevada at Lake Tahoe location will also be closed until 10 a.m.
