NEVADA – Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says many deputies were exposed to fentanyl Thursday night.

Regina Rogas, 35, and Jessica Thomas, 32, were investigated by deputies and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force.

Undercover officers bought 829.1 grams of fentanyl, 1,722.8 grams of meth, and 59.4 grams of heroin, deputies said.

The inquiry ended Oct. 20 with a buy/bust in Stateline.

Five DCSO deputies were accidently exposed to powder fentanyl during the buy/bust operation, authorities say (overdose).

Each deputy was given naloxone and taken to Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe. All five deputies were released from Barton Hospital on Oct. 21.

Tahoe Douglas, East Fork, Carson City HAZMAT, South Lake Tahoe Police, Nevada State Police, and Reno Police Department responded.

Authorities said the Douglas County Jail and court were not contaminated. All facilities are open.

Rojas and Thomas were booked in DCSO Minden Jail. They face three counts of drug trafficking, one offense of drug sales, and one count of drug possession for sale. Nevada has pending criminal accusations. Each had $250,000 bail.
