Carson City, NV – Attention Carson City School District parents and families! State funding for free school breakfast and lunch programs ends on May 30, 2024.
The Carson City School District Food and Nutrition Services department is urging families to apply for the free and reduced meals program (officially called “educational benefits”) before the deadline to ensure continued meal access for their children.
Application Process:
- Apply online before Friday, May 24th, 2024: [link to application – not possible to include due to policy]
- Paper applications are also available through school offices.
Importance of Applying:
- All student meal applications must be completed during the current school year (2023-2024) to avoid a “full-pay” default status at the start of the next school year.
- Students with existing free or reduced-price meal status have a 30-day grace period to reapply at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year.
Starting August 19th, 2024:
- All school meals will require payment based on each student’s free, reduced, or paid status.
Additional Resources:
- The district offers a helpful Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document in both English and Spanish – [link to FAQ – not possible to include due to policy] for more information.
- Contact Nutrition Services at 775-283-2150 with any questions.
The Carson City School District encourages all families who may qualify for free or reduced school meals to apply before the May 24th deadline.
