HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Nev. (NV, Globe) – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is alerting Winnemucca residents of a recent NV Energy phone scam.
Residents in the Winnemucca region have already been getting calls from a Reno mobile number with the caller ID NV Energy, followed by an automated voice warning them that their electricity service would be cut off unless they pay a deposit.
The phone call then switches to someone introducing themselves as a worker and requesting personal information.
The sheriff’s office advises not to give any personal information in response to these phone calls.
