In a collision on I-80 in Humboldt County on August 30, a man from Reno died.

Around 8:39 a.m., troopers from the Highway Patrol Division of the Nevada State Police responded to a report of a car accident on I-80 close to state mile marker 191 (county mile marker 27 in Humboldt County). East of Winnemucca, this place is around 15 miles away.

A white Dodge pickup truck carrying an enclosed U-Haul trailer was found to be moving eastward on I-80 in the right travel lane after a preliminary investigation. The Dodge’s driver veered off the right side of the road and into the outside dirt shoulder for an unidentified reason. The car overcorrected to the left, which caused it to flip.

Larry Stinnett, a 76-year-old Reno resident, was the driver who was partially thrown from the car. At the scene, he was identified as deceased.

The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command East Multi-Disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) is investigating the collision, and anyone with information about it is urged to get in touch with Sergeant Mitch Payne of the NHP Elko Office by calling (775) 753-1111.
