NEVADA – The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office and Truckee Police Department have increased their law enforcement presence in schools after receiving threats against local schools on Friday morning. The Washoe County School District was also affected by the threats.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, their initial investigation suggests that the threats are not credible and appear to be a “swatting” attempt. However, they are urging people to take the threats seriously and are continuing their investigation. The LCSO emphasized that this is an active and ongoing investigation.

Meanwhile, the Truckee Police Department has also increased its uniformed presence at Truckee schools in response to the threats. After working with the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District, they determined that there is no credible threat to any of their local school facilities.

Despite this, the LCSO is taking extra precautions and has increased its law enforcement presence in schools until the investigation is complete. The authorities are reminding the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
