RENO, Nev. (775 Times, NV Globe) – After shooting over 20 rounds with a stolen pistol, a guy was shot by police in downtown Reno and is now facing many charges.
Officers from the Reno Police Department were dispatched to the Riverwalk District early on December 22 after receiving a report of a guy shooting bullets from a weapon and others fleeing.
Officers were already in the neighborhood when they heard the suspect, Emanuel Sergio Flores-Saldana, 22, shooting six rounds. Three Reno Justice Court bailiffs were also notified to the incident and raced towards Wingfield Park in search of Flores-Saldana.
As the bailiffs were firing at him, police discovered the guy along the river near the amphitheater at Wingfield Park. The man collapsed on the ground but refused to display his hands to the cops. According to officials, when officers from the Reno Police Department attempted to arrest the guy, he jumped up and escaped. The bailiffs and other cops shot Flores-Saldana as he attempted to flee the scene.
An inquiry found that when the bailiffs met the defendant, he was firing a stolen AR-15 gun. He also had a 12-gauge shotgun with him. The man fired 17 bullets from the AR-15, according to police. Flores-Saldana also took the firearms an hour before in a commercial crime.
The Sparks Police Department re-arrested Saldana-Flores on Friday, January 13 on charges of assault on a protected person, possession of stolen goods, firing a pistol at a vehicle or building, and resisting a public officer.
